Home Design Garden by Tham & Architects Videgård

This park is home design. Tham and Videgard, Swedish Architecture Firm has successfully completed a project called House Garden. This house was built on an area 180 meters square in Viksberg, Sweden.

The owner wants a beautiful garden as part of their home, and the reason why they decided to move from their duplex apartment in central Stockholm to the rural location in the lake Mälaren. To meet customer needs, we propose a house conceived as an integrated vertical additions to the garden, where indoor and outdoor space gradually mingle and interact.
Triangular foot print is the result of a steep slope diagonally across the site. With one of the long facade facing south, we also managed to eliminate the pure north façade. This further helps the idea of climbing plants on trellises oversized high that covered most of the windows so that by the time they will be hidden in the greenery.
A double height winter garden also serves as a natural pre-heating fresh air. Roof terrace offers views of a very long above the nearby hills over the lake Mälaren. Construction is all wood, both structure and finish.

Ralph Lauren's Decor Style

Did you see the spread in last month Elle Decor on Ralph Lauren?  His place is to die for, seriously.

Ralph Lauren has been around for so long. We remember saving up for a set of his paisley bedsheets in the 80S! His style evolves a bit, but not much. We suppose that's why they call it classic, right?

Here are some pictures from Elle Decor in case you haven't seen them.

We've just added Ralph Lauren fabrics and Ralph Laruen wallpapers to our fabric store.  You can check them out here .

This is the Elysium 154 House project undertaken by BVN architecture in 2009. It is located in Noosa, Queensland, Australia. Project Description:
The Elysium 154, Noosa project is the development of housing for the last sub-division in a very desirable zip code Noosa Heads. Large sites consisting of 189 home rations, public facilities (tennis courts, health spa, water facilities), parks and nature reserves are located inland from the coastline adjacent to Lake Weyba Noosa. wavy, beautiful views of the site maintains extensive pockets of existing vegetation and given a distant view to the Sunshine Coast hinterland beyond.

This home site enjoys a truly beautiful, which slopes gently from the road south toward a small park and open space to the north. A gentle, sweeping, curved walls and forms that identify this house is produced by an intuitive response to reach both the north-east aspect and views over the park area north. Finished textured external wall folding back into the residential interior along the walls and ceilings where the edge of carefully detailed and smooth transition with the internal wall allows the threshold between inside and out had been distorted. Drawing an external garden and pool room into a luxury building has reinforced a sense of subtropics. [Via]

Inspirational Decorating Photos

We would like to make a little announcement today. A few months back we announced the launch of Digging Decor, which originally was conceived as a design blog.

As the months went by, we decided the better approach was to re-design it as a  decorating community site, with the focus on decorating photos.

If you're anything like us, you rather look at the pictures than read the text, right?  The goal for the site is to be the largest library of decorating photos, all well-indexed and well-categorized for easy searching with proper credit given to the original source.

We hate to toot our own horn, but the site is quite lovely and quite sleek.  In addition to having tons of pictures, you can also join the community to ask fellow members questions like-- how to do this, where to find what etc.  You can also post your own blog, upload picture of your favorite room, and get updated on deals and designed-related events.

We would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it if you come visit the site, and better yet, be a part of our community and submit your favorite decorating photos.  Thanks in advance!

New Online Design Magazines

Online decorating magazines seem to be a growing sector, starting with the success of Lonny.

There are a couple of new ones that you might want to check out.  The first one is Adore Home, which is an Australian online magazine.  The content is a bit thin for the first issue, but it looks like it has potential.

The second one is Rue Magazine.  This one is huge (over 200 pages). The first issue has a large section devoted to design blogs.  This one seems really exciting if they can keep up the content.

Orange Minimalist House Design By Archimania

Home design with the color orange. Archimania have designed this minimalist house in 2005 for the client company Pantik Home Builders. Orange House is the name of a house built in 2833 total SF. The concept of this project is to create a modern home that is conducive to urban family life, set in a New Urban community on the edge of Downtown Memphis.

The house is divided into three main sections based on each function part, each given to his own material. Front elevation consists of corrugated metal volume of orange-clad cantilevered above the lower level, wrapped in cement panels. Entry was made between primary and secondary mass of orange mass housing offices, are given in the redwoods.

More Mediterranean Decorating...

They say McMansions are dead, but if you happen to already have one , this is a nice way to decorate it.

We like how the scale is done.  The rooms seem enormous, but the furnishings are scaled accordingly ....They look tasteful, don't they?
